Sometimes mental health issues affect a person's ability to function in their social and romantic relationships. Often this becomes a chicken/egg kind of situation in which people feel that being in a relationship will solve their mental health issues, not knowing that their unhappiness or anxiety is actually related to a mental health issue.
Likewise relationship issues can be a trigger for mental health issues, either exacerbating an exisitng mental health issue or, if chronic, can create mental health issues.
Being proactive in addressing either can help you maintain your own wellness as well as the health of your relationship.
